For two weeks past a young Grebe has haunted the Anderson's pond Ruins just below its outlet. This evening what was probably the same Grebe came flying past me as I lay in Rickerson's Camp watching for Ducks & I shot it. I took it for a standard specimen for its flight was very faint & equally short. This Grebe who was with me said that he had never seen any kind of Duck running faster through the trees. 1897.
