June. 14. Common all the way from
Highton north to the lake. It feeds
and hunts in the upper foliage of trees,
carefully examining each leaf & twig
to discover its prey. The bird is
often concealed by some leaves, for
which reason it is not often seen.
When once discovered a good look out
for a long while was necessary to see
even a glimpse of the bird in question.
The bird's note is "chick-a-dee" & its
song is very short. The nest was found
in a birch tree about 15 feet from the
ground. It contained 4 eggs, white,
with slight reddish-brown spots.
July 26 . A brood of young recently
hatched were found in the same place.
August 10. Best plumage. It was on its breeding
ground in August, but not so common as in June.
" 11. First a pretty good many birds.
