September 29.
Goldfinch drowned in the lake.
A little further on (as we were paddling to the west
shore of the lake from off the entrance to Sunday Cove) I picked
up a Chrysomitris tristis that was floating dead on the water. It
was still rigid and I suspect it lost its way in the fog early
this morning and flew about until.exhausted. .
