Sayornis phoebe
1896 Lake Umbagog.
September A Phoebe in full autumnal plumage visited our camp at
17 2/5 Pine Point this morning. It was raining at the time
and the bird kept low down among the brinks fluttering
from place to place, doubling out after insects & wagging its
tail when perched. It was very tame & I had an
excellent view of it. It must have been a migrant for
I looked for the species in vain in May and June
last in the region about the lake.
