Honolulu
much wet and wind work, very little to do. On
3 Aug we see Kan, Ptol, & other sea members
off: Gild, Helen, King, Hunted remain, ships off to
big island.
PM - to Wailuku beach - my first swim there.
4 Aug - Amazing - I am to go back to Kauai to
do some work with King on Newell's. AM. I go to
Pearl with Kaufman & get all the blood-material
together for Sand island. Then at 1530 we fly
off to Kauai. Nothing goes right we cannot get
our helicopter today, - we sleep at Haleiwa Sunny
Cabin. We finally decide on Kokee first night to
listen for Newell's. The first person we see is
Maggie. We camp at Kalalau to listen, then to Waimea
overlook. The big sea-pigeon we hear 3 or 4
birds that cannot be. A few Newell's are heard,
from both the Kalalau lookout & the ridge further
down Kalalau - Hoena Rd.
