ith, J 1990 Journal 143 Big Creek Reserve, 5mi N-Lucia, Monterey Co., Calif. 400ft. 13 March Left Albany at 10:37am arrived Big Creek 1:40pm. Met John at Lab he was worki on creati a computer data base of plant species accounts at Big Creek. His daughter's name is Rosie. I will begin work on the bamboo property. Paul (Kiphart) is the caretaker, she is involved in much grass seedng. Trying to re-seed the Elkhorn Slough with native perennials. The bamboo property has a wooded outlook, it is a headland 400ft proposed site of new Big Creek Research facilities. There is a small spring running thru the N side of the area, there are song sparrows in that area. The Sycamores line the drainage of the spring. This is the best area from the study because it is flat and John + Faye have made paths thru the Poison Oak. This week I noticed the Poppys were in full bloom as well as paintbrush. Last week with Lee we saw many Chocolate Lilies down by the Willow Creek site (south of Lucia). Also Iris blooming. Some Redwoods also line the spring. 14 Mar Nets set at 0700hrs caught 1st Song Sparrow at 0851 hrs on Westerly PO from Road.
