valley. We were walking along in the semi-darkness when suddenly Harry exclaimed "Great Scott! There is a napipi", almost instantly his rifle banged. I looked up to structure a magnificent bull on the almost bare hillside just 400 yards away. Before I had got to unslinging my rifle Harry had fired again but he could not see the beast in his dark sight in the half darkness, & his bullets with merit high. Back than my type right the animal was perfectly invisible. & I aimed at his shoulder & at the war of my little magnification the huge animal dropped like lead rolling over & over down the hill. I tried to get to his feet but could not make it. However I gave him a second shot to finish him off. When we examined him we found that my bullet had wound him thru' both shoulders lodging against the skin on its opposite side. On its passage it had passed thru' both lungs just missing the heart. We were all delighted & very happy that day that getting one when
