He almost hit my pony, who threw up his head & galled off. I shouted to the Janna & watched the antelope. Two were down for good but the third raised itself & rolled off dragging a broken hind leg. I could not shoot for the animal went straight into the sun & as the monkey caught my pony which was heeled for its ears, the antelope was out of sight. It was too late to find it that night for we did not know where the cars had stopped. Strapping the dead animals on our ponies we turned toward the road. We had been riding an hour before I made out a dark hill & saw the glint of a white tent. Then if, came running to meet us, & we were soon at dinner. The had had to make a worthless camp for the next well was still 7 miles away.
