explored, my friend that the river flooded
& made a large island. Our horses
crossed the first branch successfully,
tho' it was very swift & we felt
sure that we could get the carts
cross. My found several log
stables & a log house on the center
of the island but all deserted, we
could find no way across the 2nd
branch of the river but decided
to camp on the island.
My got the carts over successfully
do pitched the tents. Just then
we heard shouts & saw a line
of wild carts forcing their way
to the river & behind us. They were
headed our way but found that
they were thru our encampment tents
& carts when we had had supper.
There was a Janna among the
drivers and we called him
for information. He said the
Mangals had all moved up the
valley to go across the same
route, with him on a 5-day hunt. He continued to guide
our Janna to the points for the
sum of $3 & they started off at once.
Then it began raining swiftly,
poured in sheets, & splashed about.
