Almost floats
B. glaucus is a very easy whale to raise
the surface since it will almost float
of its own accord; (A. offering & rubbing)
Baleen
plates as
apart
The distance between baleen plates varied
in different whales from 10 mil to 3 mil.
Bristles are very coarse strips.

Taste of male 35' long was 27" long
The numerous membranes into any
open mouth is usually white, but
sometimes very light pink.
Cyanus
Cyanus infest the tips & posterior
edges of the flukes, flippers, the anus,
& genitalia, & particularly the blowhole.
There are generally many patches of
these parasites on its nostrums and
in two or three spots just behind the
blowhole on top of its head. Any wound
is usually attacked by them at once.
Capt. Johnson says he has never seen
any evidences of the reputed evil
disposition of the gray whale. He say
they are very timid and will run
even from a fishing boat.
