2018 Gray whale 2, Jan. 17/12 Theresa, Korea.
A dark whale. Paddles very dark
slate with a few patches of gray on the sides
mostly on the propodial half. Sides of
body from anus to fins have as many
rather dark gray patches; back between
fins unmarked save for a few small
varnacle cicela. Posterior sides &
tip all very light gray, both rami
and lips are dark but shade is very
light gray about two feet from symphy-
sis.
Two throat furrows each 15" long
Tongue 170 long x 110 wide over curve
Hump prominent
Baleen has yellowish-white inserts.
Right ramus has 16 long bars in
two irregular rows - the upper & next
regular row containing 9 - the lower 7.
Fourteen bars on left ramus in
several places they being two bars
six one folicles.
