no 16 Gray Whale Jan 16/12 Human Kane.
A [illegible] whale. Sides of peduncle
covered thickly with irregular gray patches
touching running into each other. (The
patches are gray in the center shading to
white at the edges & broken by a number
of small black spots or dashes.) Ventral
& dorsal regions of peduncle plain.
Sides from anus to fin with rather
small gray patches. Back between
fins plain dark. A few gray patches
are real just behind blowholes.
A large white patch between arms &
penis joint (to the right of its ventral line)
Black below with a few white circles (
each just like those of a Humpback)
Tip of right lobe white & has been injured.
Left fin also black with large white
circles - post edge all white (injured)
Below with fewer circles but [crossed out]
several 'ashes' of white
