W.15 Gray Whale 8 Jan, 1871 12 Ellman Kava
a dark whale. Upper half offounds plain black - lower half thinly covered with rather small gray markings ("blow") to a few barnacle scars. Sides from anus to fins has a good many light gray patches with white edges which almost join; these also cover its belly but do not extend on the back.
Head has a little white on dorsal surface of nostrums and a good many white barnacle scars on its sides.
7 circulations on back (not well made) Blubber a flesh color (the highest I have seen)
Finno Two famous 145 long ancient cords 19 apart & posterior ends 5 5 Ear creates the size of an order any pencil.
