no 24/ Sei whale 7 June//10 Aikawa The right side of the nostrum [top] of head, blue gray, darker than the dorsal fin. The peduncle a good deal. Back also dark blue gray. A very light whale The general effect of color given by this whale is much like a Blue Whale - very light color but more bluish on the whole I believe, Sides of fluke lower lip & rammus all light blue gray, the edge of its lip being a triple darker. (I did not see the left ramus) The central portion of throat/breast white, the furrows being pinkish. Under the corner of the mouth on its right side there are 14 furrows which are dark gray or slate. An irregular belt of gray but the folds from the corner with mytten appendages of mouth under fin + to a point nearly opposite the top of fin land back, where it broadens and abruptly into a white band which runs across belly joining the gray of the folds on the other side. This "belly band" is dark blue gray + darker in its folds than the sides immediately behind above it. From the navel to across the central line is bluish white. The sides of the peduncle are beautiful light blue-gray, becoming lighter
