No. 6 Fireback ♀ Apr. 14/10 Oshima
This individual was brought in about 2 P.M. so I was able to get a few photographs.
The "total length" is the total of three sections.
Color
Body
Upper sides + back neutral tint (scanty pulling off the upper epidermal layer) - the ridge of back & peduncle neutral, the rest of the upper sides + sides Isabellan gray
(the neutral tint of the back extends down from the median line only about 12 inches on either side)
Left rammers dark slate - Right rammers has the anterior half all whitish shading into light gray of the posterior half. As in the Alaska Firebacks the gray of the sides comes farther & farther down toward the mid ventral line as it goes back- ward until about 3 ftin front of the flukes only the very ventral ridge of its peduncle is white - a little way behind the genitalia the ventral white strip is 15 inches wide. The throat, breast & belly are white, (feebly) with dark furrows as in Alaska Firebacks. Under right fin 3 folds are gray
Patterns
The tips of both fins have been injured - I photographed both inferior & superior surface.
Under side (Right) has ant. 2/3 whitish gray shading running over post. 1/3 from
