dorsal fin thn - 2 & white hairs on symphysis 11 hairs on tip of castrum all in bundles - on trig beak 5-0 cnt. back of end of blowhole is a clump bunch of short yellowish hair, very stiff. between blowholes at posterior end is another smaller bundle - The larger bundle is also a little larger than a dollar - Seven long bundles in right margin with hairs on four of them. The pelvic bones of this whale measure as follows: Left (straight) = 23-7 mil, " " (curved) = 25-6 " Right (straight) = 25-0 " " " (curved) = 26.0 " A third prolongation of cartilage extends on the end of each bone, 60 mil long; this cartilage looks much like bone & can only be dist. carefully pressed it when its there is covered by a little fat, by cutting. The pro- longations at the anterior end an its left bone is 50 mil long. The anterior end of the right posterior bone is shortest & thickest; is attached by cartilage & ligaments to the root of the spine. at the joint of curve of ribbons, where a verte- gal femur would be attached, no sign by it was to be found and as we cut it fresh away most carefully, it could not possibly have been missed.
