64 1872 May 27-30 Midology Co., Mass. May 29 Took the first train to Lincoln meeting H. A. Pierce at Walworth. Spent the day on the road from there to Cerebed. Took 34 birds among the last ten: Hcl. chrysoptera, & H. pringenta. But found 10 Papaya dubra (7 D) > 20 D. camuliscus. Was overhauled by a policeman. Mr. Sartoris being at Lincoln but showed my permit & finally calmed his wrath considerably. Eat dinner at the head of Sandy Pond. Had a cool nice day albeit rather too windy and cloudy at times. Saw numerous members of D. maculosa just as many as 25 in all. Did not have time to touch on the Hanson meadow. May 30 Spent the day at Granville with Henry Blushard. The morning was clear and beautiful with a cool B. wind but clouds soon gathered & by 3 P. M. we were driven home by the petting rain storm). For Huckle we each took an E. flavistris and saw distinctly E. tracthi. I got another E. flav. c. & H. chrysoptera, & Dabra, & Q. indoriana for the course of the day.
