B. Wilson killed & brought me y2 Buteos
over the path one with
neck outstretched, the other
squatted close on the limb.
When they sat perfectly motionless
& presenting a beautiful sight,
amid the delicate green frondage
of the tree. After looking at
them for some moments I
shot one sitting and missed
a snap shot at the other
as he disappeared in the
thicket, the bird killed had
his crop filled with larch
noodles. I find at a H. Columbian
sitting but missed. I heard
a P. Vestitus & a Canada Jay.
Aug 29 Char and my host. Off after
breakfast with S. taking the
Clyde Road. Made a very growing
work of it taking 6 good birds.
2 Vireo Philadelphicus, 1 D. Black,
1 H. Jungerina 2 My. Canadensis,
1 Vireo Dolatias, S took 1 N. Phil.
& D. castanea sc. He shot the
first vireo when I immediately
started after the heterogamous
assembly of warblers Chickadees
&c. Among which he found at a
poon elevated & shot two. They
were both own tame within
no note & Contrary to observations
made on this species in Germ.
