Took 10 birds the first 2 Blackbirds 4 (1 male, Parula Am.) 1 (male), Y. Swainsoni 1 nest, etc. Came across a large brood of young Cross-hymalis: they were very tame one of them coming up almost within reach of my hand as I stood motionless watching him. They kept calling out in a fast fine shrill whistling tone reminding me somewhat of a note made by the whole family of Verdidae. Saw a large flock of Chry. griseus feeding on a Birch tree for company with two & Curr. Am. And, I shooting a 6 of the former I found the gemination organs of a very small size. While last season I rarely saw or hear this bird near the Lake Woods > & what fun I have seen eluder here the habits of the species in fall.
