berself begged the first bird and passed the other. Saw several broods of Hydrus Londorice, and a number of Camp. [illegible] all apparently old birds. Shot also on a brood of Coracias Vernalis; as previously noted, at Pye brack the young were calling out oh, oh,bray in public audibles. Saw several Sphyx varius for the first time and also seen the horn three C [illegible] And, the broods of young grunts were quite tame, of one of that shot found, roading and casting to a dead point on the old bird which lay spread on the turf in a little glade not two yards ahead of his nest; they took to the trees for the most part and many of them exhibited most comical demonstration of anger, bistering up and obstipating up a continual [illegible] whistling and grunting as of quite indignant at such intrusion). In the afternoon hunted my birds and took 7 trout. Messrs. [illegible] & [illegible] came out to day.
