96 1872. Aug. 17-25 Page Beach, N. H. just left. About 2 P.M. oversaw small flocks of G. flavipes flies. Sat. 17 Rained hard all the forenoon; chur and warm in P.M. No flight at all & the only two birds I saw all day was a Mew: longirostris & a N. Hurd. flying Norther. The water run so high to day as to cover all the marsh Sun. 18 Chur & warm. Wind S.E. Did not see a single bird all day. Mon. 19 Chur and warm. Wind S.W. At morn I found a flock of G. flavipes on the marsh; killed four and in the afternoon two or three stragglers and seen but no flight. In the morning this was the very heavy flight of Ac. Palustrinus & I saw one flock of as many as 15. In the morn went down on the Jurd and shot a Hight heron The migration of Dot. sigineus is about at its height. Sunday 25 During the past week the weather has been for the most part fair but there has been literally no flight at all of marsh birds. Aug 23rd & 24th there were Black ducks in the Jurd & I shot one the former date. My eye had troubled me more than ever before & I shall turn Dry to mowers). Friday Aug. 28
