June 16 Checked the traps there, finishing around 0845h. I drove to the barn. I took the 3 smears & checked the cages of all the mice. I stopped back at the cabin and then went to the lab to look at the slides around 1000h.
At about 1030h I left Hastings. I went to Monterey Salinas to get a few things and to visit Ellen Elson. I returned to Hastings at 1900h and stopped very briefly at the cabin. Then I left to set the RC drift fences. From there I went to set the MC fences. I finished around 2015h. (The rattlesnake was not anywhere visible by the traps today.)
June 17 I left the cabin at 0605h under clear sky. The temp was 52°F. I checked the MC drift fences first. Then around 07645h I headed over to the RC drift fences to check the traps there. I finished there around 0830h. I stopped at the barn to do the 3 smears and to check the cages. The mice numbered 1496 and 1506 were dead yesterday they were alive. The 2 young in their cage were alive. I left the cage alone temporarily. I looked at the slides under the microscope around 0915h. I then drove to the Strombergs' house. I didn't find Mark but then I found him near the mailboxes. I asked him to look at the mice to see if he could
