Y-140 Fork-tailed Swallows which flew on board after a storm off the South end of Formo- Ca., Sept. 25, 1854. Above black with blue-satin reflections - tail & wing feathers behind dark-brown. A little brunish above eyes & above base of bill. Heek below dark greyish-brown. Throat light brown. Breast, abdomen and feathers at base of tail, white. Tail dark brown below, with a transverse narrow white band near its extremity. Feet and bill black. Feet often pale greenish or pink-colored. Facies Yellow. Y-141 Sterna Flew on board after a storm off S. end of Formosa, Sept. 1854 Head black above with a sprinkling of whitish or purplish. Throat, belly & tail below white. Neck white above. Back dark dove-colored. Beak dark bluish-grey. Facies red, showing external- ly at angles of mouth. Feet copper-colored. Tail below & externally dark grey.
