On Sunday we took a run about 10 miles out but on the smooth ice of the Sound below the heavy floe ice. This seemed good going for later trips. On Monday we ran down to State and fishing humpoths. A short trip was made at Littleton Island to pick up several casks of duck eggs. Wednesday Dec 11 - 1918. El and I are busy getting ready for another more extensive trip across to Cape Sable. I am overjoyed because I delight in get- ting out and travelling while staying home is misery. Tuesday Dec 16 - 1918. We started early on the morning of Dec 11th with six humpoths. I travelled with Elphie before and El with Punchbowl. On our way to Community, the dogs got on a tree trunk and ran out into the Sound. Then we killed an old hen and three cats, a big feed for us in order to get the killing. We had no difficulty in crossing on
