Tuesday January 19, 1905.
Clear with NE wind -38°
In the night our dog became the mother of pups. The number in the family is obscure as we have reason to believe that she made a meal off the first ones. Tonight I found one dead and two alive but evidently poorly taken care of. The bitch herself was born less than 6 years ago. This is her first experience in raising children. Her inexperience is very evident, she cannot seem to curl up around them comfortably and leaves them everywhere I go out with the slop pail. In this cold weather the poor little thin haired babies have a hard time.
I spent an hour in at the house today cleaning up the attic and straightening out some of my books. On my return I rebuilt my igloo which the wind had worn through in several places.
I was glad to find that Hal has taken up the posture of building snow houses. We all ought really to have -

High NE winds clear -26°
Jerome and I went in to Fakah for dinner. We enjoyed a fresh rabbit which the men got yesterday - the first this year.
The walk in was in the face of the cutting stiff wind. We came out by moonlight. I helped Ehth[man] clean up the attic.
