Monday, January 18, 1905. Clear with light NE wind. New moon -20°. The men went north after breakfast intending to hunt scattish. We returned to the Island this afternoon. I saw a rabbit track near our ice fort showing where we had missed a visitor. The wind has eaten a hole in my new igloo. This is not so tragic as it sounds. The satisfaction in an igloo comes to an intense climax when the last blocks slips into place locking the structure into one single stout shelter and completing the marble dome which reflects the single lantern with a dazzling brilliance.
