234 Saturday December 26, 1914 Clear with NE wind -12° We all felt rather dull this morning having stuffed yesterday. Hal and I have commenced their watch and watch routine, one sleeping while the other takes care of the house. They prepare two meals, each getting breakfast for the other. Jerome and I felt that it was high time for us to be getting back to work. We cannot seem to get down to anything here at the house on account of the continuous conversation. This would not bother me if I had a room to use, but it is working on the downstairs and finds it necessary to keep his tools in our room. Consequently there are always coming after a hammer or a file; the result is that I feel as tho I were living in some public station or shop. After a fumble about three o'clock we returned to the island. I had boasted that I was able to build a double snow igloo. I felt that I must set about the job at once. The wind blew my lantern out before I got even started, and the moon conveniently hid his light behind a cloud. However I got the work about two thirds completed and finally stopped because I could not work in the dark. I was pretty sleepy when I turned in.
