--- FOREVER. 171 Saturday October 24-1914 Joy FOREVER wins It is really still! That is to say There is just the gentlest of gentle breezes coming out of the NE. It was so quiet in the house tonight that one wouldn't realize that it was two o'clock. After more than three weeks of rattling and banging and shaking the poor little shack has really settled down for a night of peace. The changing of the batteries was not done until early this morning. In consequence we did not have kerosene until three this afternoon. I went out into the still air and was glad. The south west was a blaze of glory and the water shot the hips into the air by its mirror like mirage. This ice filled the wind clear out to Sunrise Point and we saw good walking to the next island. As I turned to go into Oatmeal Bay beach I saw some one coming out from the dock. We put on an extra cup of coffee and in ten minutes had the pleasure of welcoming Hal to his first real visit in the Joy Forever. I think he really liked the coziness of the room, and I know the electric lights must have seemed pleasant after the switched lamps he had left behind. We sent the dogs all back with Hal. They are very hungry and also a great nuisance about the house. We plan to go in tomorrow. I need some more books and Jerome cannot have his tooth filled. The house is almost too warm tonight with the wind gone. Oh, I forgot to say the Sun is due to leave today.
