Sydney N.S. 9 Saturday Friday July 12 1913 By having continued until nearly midnight the night before we were surprised by seeing the ship back at the lower wharf this AM. The crew worked all morning and with great exertion managed to get about one tenth of our lumber aboard. At one o'clock the Staff & Scientists turned to on the lower deck, assisted by the tourists, were pleased to see the lumber aboard by 4.15 P.M. We moved to wharf and our own crowd assisted by two of the crew put 36,000 lbs. of log disgorge aboard by 8.15 with 20 minutes out for supper. At 10.00 got underway and steamed out to North Sydney for no other reason than that the crew were rather a messed. Sunday July 13 Rain & colder. Restored our deck level 2 log disgorge. Mr. Ogilvie went shore for mail. The crew returned about 11 o'clock. Saw many ships for deviation of the compass between 9o and 11.30 using harbor range. Got underway at 5o and stood out of the harbor. Weather clear with brisk northerly wind. Passed N.S. Southern Cross at 6.20 P.M. bound in to Sydney.
