Mr. Miller and I took a room in the Sydney Hotel near the Arch in order to work on our correspondence with Quarter Committee. Incidentally there was a cold bath to be had in its place. Sydney N.S. Thursday July 10 Cloudy then clear and pleasant. Finished taking out sand ballast about 30 tons in all. Then moved over to the boat pier and commenced loading. Mrs M. bought 6 suits of the very best woolen underwear for each man, also 20 yds. of splendid gray blanketing to be put aboard and made up into shirts.
