122 E T Thursday - July 23 - 1914 The weather seems calm at the house. We are planning to shift the whole plant to the out of the three small islands, on the south side of the third entrance. Today Jerome & I went over there in the fluttee & looked for a site. We found a shellbank spot for a home near the water. We were very pleased to see that the north wind was really north & steady. This same wind at 6th splits into a dozen different currents - is not dependable. Joe & Hal who have both built fluyahs are hunting in two arms & keeping us supplied with game. In May & June the esquimoes made two trips by sledge up the coast for fur & seal. They got about 40 - 50 seals altogether + two deers. The latter were killed near the huge fold glacier. In the spring an expedition of Esqui- mous went south along the Silvermine Island coast after deer. They got only four & great many dogs died & the men had a hard time. Friday July 24 - 1914 A typical summer day here. Wind variable and clouds mixed with sunshine ending by a touch of fog which lifted from a calm later in the evening.
