114 Elsomere Sunday May 12 - 1914 Started at 8 Am & did not arrive as head of day find until got pm. Heavy going tried us out & was hard on the dogs. We found considerable more snow than we had seen in March. We were very happy to get biscuit & nickle again. We have had only a few raggy & mushy crumb for that past 10 days. Looking back into Mike Sound we could see the drifts & heard something down the in. Wednesday May 12 - 1914 Did our things today and rested the dogs. Eth. & I slept all day. Quieter weather with sunshine light snow falling x Thursday May 14 - 1914 Hiked about 10 hours up the hill & came to what appears to be a lake at the foot of the ice cap on the west side. Going hiking & many rocks by- passed. I had no snow shoes & was pretty tired when we got in. Slept on our lanetish.
