I have got behind in my diary again and don't remember, day for day, just what has happened during the past week, but there has been nothing startling. I have been working on the battery locker and engine, and succeeded in construct- ing a locker for the battery which will allow them to operate at a normal temp- erature, about 70°F, by having an open- ing into the kitchen. Heretofore they have had to operate at a temperature very near zero, and at such a low temperature they are very inefficient. The gas from the engine got so bad that it became necessary to quit attempting to run on kerosene.
