If that should occur, Peter would feel obliged for hu- manity's sake to use the Rasmussen ship in a search for Mac, and he and Ras- mussen have not the capital to warrant such a search. Peter wanted to know who would guarantee the expenditure entailed by using the ship that way. Would the Museum or the Crocker Land Committee do so? I told him that I could not give him any such guarantee and that he would have to look to Mac himself for any re- imbursement or protection.
