Monday, March Spring came in with winters overcast. The trees are coated with ice, as is everything else; and the goryloousness, two rainbows shades of flashing diamonds as the bright sun reflects from the swaying branches, maybe faintly imagined but not described. There is a suspicious stillness in the air, as there might be a storm brewing. 21st. Glass at 8 this morning, dull, but a blue bird greeted me at 6 with his querulous chirry noise. 2/2. Snow. Went to Ames- bury in P.M., with plants. 23. Snow, then rain all day and now at nights. Fed tree sparrows, who appeared to be very grateful for a few handfuls of cloth.
