Mar 26. This has been a very rough month, since the 12th it has snowed 4 times and rained as many. The 14th it was very cold, 10 below zero. The birds have pushed right along nevertheless, hold all they got, and increase every warm day. The 13th crow blackbirds, 23 Chipping birds arrived. 25 Swallows. The snowy yesterday and hardly warm enough to clean up the inch as so that came, I saw him circling around a birdhouse doubtless in fond anticipation of the time when his family would redescended there. The 6th Giskins are finishing leaving us. Turned larks are gone north in little flocks, and all kinds of birds are travelling without mother to scour the country. It is raw windy, and marsh cloudy but birds are happy.
