Common on stony, gravelly east
slope overlooking a small stream
11 km. south of the highway
summit north of Sarl, in the
Ellburz Mountains, Iran.
Stems clustered on a woody
root and branched, mostly
canary. Flowers bright
pink-purple. Calyx sub-
equally 5-cleft, 10-nerved.
Upper lip of corolla sub-
galeate, entire or nearly
so. Stamens 4, about equal,
barely exerted from the
corolla tube. Plants with
a distinctive aroma.
Elevation about 1300 m.
Corolla tube with a ring of
hairs 3 mm. above the base.
