Perennial from deep-seated
running roots, the stems
arising singly, green;
becoming much branched
and forming a tumbleweed-
-like mass 4-6cm. high
and wide. Flowers yellow,
motly 6 (7) to a head.
Achene rather light brown,
prominently ridged and
furrowed longitudinally,
somewhat compressed.
Pappus copious, of
capillary, barbellate,
white bristles.
