July 31. Oversleeps + late for breakfast. Quietly packed stuff + off to airport about 10:00, but still had to gas. Off at 11:10 in R4D, with Fred Carpenter, the "chief" y Bander Island, his wife and 3(q/13) children, plus a lot of his friends. Soon over the heavy overcast + cruising over Sachs Harbour runway about 1:30. Finally landed on new strip under construction, met by Eric Davison, engineer in charge q construction, in a Bombardier, with the R.C. priest + several others. Very cold - perhaps 35° or a strong west wind with misty rain - good Barron weather! Very good lunch in construction crew mess + out into field at 2:00 with
