Husted, Dayle N. 1964 underwings were dark. The breast and belly was white (Salanders Petrel ?). At 1707 a small dispersing flock was seen. It contained three Jaeger sp. The Jaegers returned at 1734, as the birds flushed into the sun, a small definite rounded central tail feathers were seen. The birds were dispersing. The Jaegers were dark with some light on them. September 20--The sea was calm and the skies clear. We saw many Sooty Shearwaters today, all heading south or southeast. We got into one immense flock. I courted a small area of it and came up with about 100 wedgetails. The flock was all spread out and covered a large area. It was almost entirely wedgetails. There was also a lack of Sooty Terns. There wasn't many Noddy Terns either. We were met at the dock by Ely and Standen. The rest of the day was spent making out the report and then sucking down a few beers. September 21--In Honolulu recovering. September 22--Clapp discovered he could only drink 10 boiler makers before he felt a wee bit woozy. September 23--Helped Clapp and Hackman get things ready for the ATF and Marshall's trip. September 24--Not much happened today, I cut my finger on a beer can while I was opening it. September 25--Clapp had a wild dream about a falcon. September 26--Helped Hackman this morning with the outboard motors for the ATF. September 27--Not much went on today. September 28--Helped load trunks on the ATF ship today. The officers on the ship look like they are going to be real hard asses.
