Husted, Dayle N. 1964 43 September 16--Today was partly cloudy with rain squalls around mid-day. The sea was moderate. Most of the birds seen were in singles, one flock was seen. More Sooty Shearwaters were seen today, and some of the all dark Shearwater-Petrels. One Golden Plover was seen flying west, at 0800 it was calling. I think Clapp is getting channel fever or about to go stir crazy. He ran out of reaching material. There are some sex books on board he hasn't read yet, but they would only make him more hard up. September 17--The sky was partly cloudy and there were squalls around 1200. The sea was moderate. A Golden Plover was seen this morning heading southwest. We didn't see many birds today (29 total) and no flocks were observed. We are starting on our report. I hope to have it finished or nearly so when we get to port so Clapp and I can go over and suck down a few beers before going to the hotel. Come to think of it, I could damn near drink a keg of the suds. This afternoon a sperm whale was seen. It was identified by David Au. September 18--The sky was clear, the sea was calm. We are starting to get the report ready today. At 0957 a shearwater-petrel was seen that had a black throat, marked white belly, underneath lightish. The birds were rather few and far between. September 19--The sky was partly cloudy to cloudy with rain squalls this afternoon. The sea was moderate. Most of the birds seen today were heading south. A variety was seen. This morning several Newell's Shearwater were seen heading south. At 1644 a shearwater-petrel was seen by Termite and me. It was dark on top, dark neck and undertail,
