Huber LP 1966 Journal June 21 Wake Is. Saw 5 Reddystonstone in ponds plus 1 Goldflaver and one wandering tittler. Also caught a subadult Redtailed tropic bird that was flying over Sooty colony on Wilkes. Saw six W.T. Tropic flying together over antenna field area. And saw a orange streamed Sooty turn on Flipper point. The Streamer was just a stub. Last night as we passed by the airport at about 10:30pm I saw [illegible] bird flying over the terminal area that looked like a Newells in size color and shape. A couple of minutes later we went back to Terminal area and saw a red-footed booby flying over. Just as we finished watching the redfoot I noticed a bird sitting on the pavement in front of the terminal. It was a wedge-tailed shearwater. Upon skinning it I found a bloodclot on the neck just in back of the head and also one on the humerus of a wing. Probably ran into one of the flights. I went back to the terminal at 17:30 that night and saw sooty terns flying over. Also saw what appeared to be another wedgetailed shearwater flyin low and circleing over a flat patch of grass at the north side of the terminal. I am not sure about the identification but it's color and flight appeared to be wedgtail. Definitely 3 streamed sootics that we didn't catch on Wake probably more. Yesterday saw a fairly large fish in the terminal ponds. It just had been around 8 inches and it's tail kept coming out of the water. So that two species of fish in these ponds. Also have seen 2 species of shrimp and what I think are two species of gecko.
