Haberku 1966 Journal June 16, Wake Is. w/less Kuku point Banded 7 common Nody chicks and 5 adult comm noddies that were nesting on the bunkers at Kukupoint. The only place were the noddies are nesting on the main isalnds of wake, withes and Peale. Rest of the day went normal. June 17, walkes.. fount & RT. Tropic bird nestor w/less Is land at Kuku point. The chick was about 1/3 grown. Nothing else much. also saw what looked to be a polevision rat run across the road. it was small chunky and short tail. It ran across by the main antenna field by the BOQ. June 19. Wake saw a golden plover [illegible] in the ponds in the middle of the runway. Banded & adult tropic bird (RTI) that was with the chick. Saw 4 at one time. Saw 3 fairy terns at one time over runway just west of control Tower. Also there are small guppy like fish in those ponds in the middle of the runway. I don't see how they can stand the hot water, most of the water is only 4" deep. There are a few bomb holes which get about 5' deep but the fish are still found great distances away from these holes in very hot water. June 20 Wake saw 2 wonderig tattlers and one Noddy turnstone in the ponds in the middle of the runway. Last night we walked got to the rocks out on the reef from Kuku point. Banded 7 sub-ad BF Bobbis and a few Browns. Also got some returns from roosting Browns. As far as I can see there is only one more Blueford Booby out here but it is too far out on the reef to make it worth- while. There is really a lot of Browns out there probably 50-20.
