July 26 rained out July 27. I made it. Just by the skin of my tooth at 0730 finished boat Sootic Goat. at 1130 finished last fang turn around and left island at 1600 after going through checkout procedure. Just about broke myself up last night trying to catch an orange streamered sootie. Next timed see one from a bicycle I think I will save a lot of time and trouble and fall over the handle bars [illegible] right away and then go after the bird on foot. But some stroke luck the bird was still there after I got reorganized. Aug 4. French Frigate Shoals Terns. When I first came onto tern island I wouldn't have estimated over 25 fang terms in the casuarina trees. Since then I have landed over 60. Knowing this I start to wonder about my fang term estimate on Midway. Aug 5 - [illegible] 15 East Is. / Whole Is. East Is. There are on te average 4 turtles a night on the island digging around.
