I was out landy last night when I came upon a small clearing with about twenty scoters in it. I started banding it and had gotten 5 added recisions of getting the rest when one panicked and went charging through the group scattering birds in all directions. Before you could say, "You shouldn't have done that bird" he was dead. These birds die in some unusual ways. July 23. I had set the alarm for 4:30 pm today but I apparently shut it off and went back to sleep because I woke up a 11:15 pm I just made it to the 12:00 pm boots. That was close.. If I had missed that I would have had to do better that 3,000 a day to get my quota for the rest of the time remaining.
