14 Attended the band concert at Eden gardens at sunset. This is a favourite resort for all classes of society at dusk. The British stops there in his ruster with his wife & family or their pet dogs if [illegible] children are wanting. Native nurse girls with their European charges are here in numbers & some Bengalese also as Indians! & Europeans predominating. The gardens are well arrayed with lawns, trees flowerbeds & a lake. Here I saw a Burmese pagoda brought [illegible] from Burma, this a natural teak temple consisting of a series of peaked roof one described above another.
