the rice fields, the river here flows slowly than passed low banks at the valley looks much like that of the mountain but is narrower. At noon we descended the large hill the highest on the road which drops 1000 feet in minutes walk over winding rock. The valley at this point narrows & the leaves sandy & concentrated as this cliff place marking 200 feet altitude, the small red fig makes its appearance defining itself by growing in clusters at the base close to the stem. Another tropical plants seen here was the great creepervine, mimosa bean pods a foot long The peinst & rhododendras seem to cease but above this point.
