Here were seen many small
brushes + a candleburr
planting some 10 feet high was common,
at 2 P. M. we stopped for
tiffin at hot springs near a
running stream. A steaming hot
clear water comes from the
hillside, here there are spring
phlox and water clustered in
steaming on the hills. Frogs were heard calling here the
first I have heard in Tengyueh
district. Just after leaving
Tengyueh we saw one of the
leather-leaved giant fig-trees
bearing small yellow figs.
These trees continued all the
roadway where their great
spreading branches make excellent
shed.
