At this season the wild fruit
here consist of a yellow black-
berry or hries [illegible] good taste, a
red dry raspberry to small
cherry. The Chinese are very
destructive to all vegetation
& in order to get the cherries
the cut the large limbs off.
The result is there are now
few cherry trees left & such
hard only a sturdy growth of
branches left.
The flowering season is now
at its height but the forest does
not present any large areas
of flower display owing to the
great number of pine oak &
older trees. There are several
species of Rhododendrons now
in bloom & such trees that
are covered by a whiteness of
large flowers. There are two
species of large white Rhododendron
which are visible for miles in the
forest. Then there is the deep carnation
tree Rhododendron, & a pink shrubby
one. Smaller less conspicuous
