"[illegible] seen the animal run across the fields which were some 500 yds away. I saw the dogs run cross the fields later but the deer must have been a long way ahead of them. In the afternoon we beat the fresh near camp where the first deer was shot but the dogs all drew out a cast cat. (13) The same men + dogs took us out again this am to to a new place for sambhur. Before we got in position close the beaters 2 large Sambhur came out across the ravine. April one but were in cover again before I could get a shot at them. They were not seen again five returned aimless to camp. The morning mist hung across the valley but our side was clear. A slight rain of half hours duration ended just after noon we had a thunder shower. (14) Our day was fruitless altho I spent most of it beating for sambhur.
